Kirby Heyborne came to visit the Moapa Valley on Saturday, January 12. Heyborne was the guest of the Moapa Valley High School Television Broadcasting Program in a local benefit concert. He stood on the stage of the Ron Dalley Theatre and spun memories of life with the audience.

His manner and demeanor is very laid back and personable, so that he and the audience members had a great time visiting. Kirby is well known as an actor and just finished a commercial with “Mr. T” for Snickers. His description of the shoot and working with Mr. T was very entertaining and worth mentioning to watch for its release. Kirby will be the speed walker.
He is currently involved in several Independent films. One will be a Cowboy Musical Comedy titled “Cowboy Down”; another concerns High School Football; and the third is the result of a sitcom he did for Fox called “Free Ride.” He co-authored the new work.
In addition to his acting chores, he is involved in recording Books on Tape for which he won the “Audie Award” for the recording of “The Navigator.” He has recorded “Black Swan Green” and “Cloud Atlas,” as well has sixteen books for Random House. Heyborne’s newest recording is “The Blue Star” to be released in April.
Kirby attended the University of Utah where he majored in Economics, which, he agreed, is a logical step to becoming an actor. He has been singing for years and does about two concerts a month. Idaho, Oregon, Utah and Canada will be his destinations in the near future. Fortunately, there were several Canadians in the evening’s audience who were able to help him more clearly understand the language - “Canadian.”
His songs, which he accompanies on the guitar, reflect his life’s story. Kirby discussed each song with the audience in his witty style which made the songs even more special. He stated that he felt the stage was his therapist’s couch. Lyrics from his song “Brown Eyes” (“Kiss her mouth, tastes like the ocean.”) brought a round of laughter from the audience, which lead to lengthy discussions throughout the evening. He sang a very clever song about, and for, a member of the audience, Jenny. (PS Whose nickname is “ifer.”)
Many of the lyrics carry meaningful messages as the song he wrote for his brother on forgiveness (“Home”) or, a favorite, “Beautiful Inside” which he wrote for one of his movies. As Heyborne’s lyrics state, “Everything gets better when you’re around,” certainly speaks volumes when he comes for a visit.
