Residential Landscape Design Class Offered
Moapa Valley Progress

University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is offering an 8-week class on “Landscape Design with the Desert in Mind.” The class will be held on Tuesday evenings, beginning February 5. Mel Hengen, Master Gardener from the Las Vegas Extension office, will be conducting the class, which will cover basic elements of designing or converting to a low-water-use landscape around a home.

Many topics will be covered, from formulating an outdoor “needs and desires” list to plant selection to installing irrigation.

The class will take place from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. at the Cooperative Extension Education Building, 1897 N. Moapa Valley Boulevard in Logandale. There is a $15 fee (per household/landscape) for the series to cover the costs of handouts and design materials (scholarships are available for those needing one). This has been a popular class in the past, and class size will be limited. Registration deadline is February 1. To sign up or for more information, stop by the Extension office or call 397-2604 or 346-7215.
