LETTERS TO THE EDITOR:
Internet Safety Seminars Needed
To the Editor:
Although we are removed from Las Vegas and other large cities and the perceived “dangers”, we are in the middle of the internet age. Internet dangers are in every home with a computer. The PTA at Bowler Elementary feels very strongly that bringing an internet safety workshop presented by Las Vegas Metro Police Dept. will be a valuable tool for students AND their parents.

We are able to provide an age-appropriate assembly to the elementary school children during the day. We wish to provide an evening workshop for Middle and High school aged kids instead of a day time assembly. Our reasoning is that teaching our kids about the dangers of the internet is only half the battle. Parents need to know the facts, too. If parents are not up-to-date and informed on internet safety and pro-active with their kids they are more likely to run into problems on the internet.

We hope to receive an overwhelming response to our Internet Safety Workshop! We would like to schedule it in February or Early March and would like parents that are interested to call or e-mail with a day of the week and time that works best with their schedules.

The PTA is dedicated to bringing educational workshops/seminars to our families, elementary thru high school. It is our hope that we can find a “good” day and time to schedule workshops like these so our families can benefit from the great programs that we bring to the Valley.
