Candice Lynn moved to the Moapa Valley in July 2007. Lynn had acquired her house in Overton 3-years previously when she had come down to visit friends from her home Victor, Idaho who wintered in Southern Nevada.
Last year Lynn decided that she had had enough of the Idaho winters and decided that a change was needed. So she picked up and moved to her vacation home. Once here, she began one business and acquired another.

After she graduated from Ricks College with an associate’s degree in accounting, she took a job Jackson, Wyoming accounting firm. Accounting was what she did. But she found that what she really enjoyed was working through the details of the tax code. When she arrived in the Moapa Valley, she started her business opening a tax preparing business called Number Cruncher.

While, for Lynn, accounting is a business she enjoys; she has also been able to acquire a business in the Valley that is her passion in life, dancing. In September 2007, she bought the Valley Dance Academy, LLC a local dance school in operation since 2001.
The Dance Academy holds classes in both the Old Overton Gym and the Old Logandale School. Lynn enjoys teaching in the school and has several instructors who offer a wide variety of dance styles. The students also range in age. There are classes for small children getting interested in dance, for teenagers, and for adults that want to learn more and get some exercise.

Some of the classes offered are the traditional jazz, ballet, and clogging. The school is in between tap instructors. New to the school, since Lynn took over, are a yoga class and a belly dancing class. These classes are taught at the Old Overton Gym taught by Academy Instructor Kaylene Canfield.
“I have really enjoyed the time I have spent in the Valley,” Lynn said. “The weather is wonderful this time of the year and I have enjoyed becoming part of the community. I have loved dancing since I was young and it is great to live in a small community where I can be involved in teaching and performing with such talented people.”
