Moapa Valley Progress
The excitement of Lady Pirate softball has once again comeback to the Moapa Valley as the transition from winter to spring athletic seasons is now complete.
The Lady Pirates, who have had a steady improvement over the last few seasons, will once again be coached by Kim Delgadillo as she continues to bring a new life and a new image to Lady Pirate softball.
The Lady Pirates opened up training camp last Saturday as they prepare to try and continue their climb back up the leaderboard to supremacy. The Moapa coaches thoroughly drilled the large turnout of girls in the fundamental skills of playing fast-pitch softball: hitting, defense, pitch selection, and overall pitching.
The team mainly focused on fielding groundballs, popflys, and working on relaying the ball to the proper location. Also the team worked on batting practice and trying to select which pitches to hit and what swings to be made for certain pitches.
After the conclusion of practice, Coach Kim Delgadillo commented on the first day of practice. “ We are very excited for this season. Our team definitely is fast and plays good defense but we need to improve on hitting the ball to get our offense going. That’s our main goal during training camp,”
