The Mack Lyon Girls Basketball A-Team and their moms participated in the second annual Moms vs. Daughters game on Friday, March 7 at Mack Lyon Middle School in Overton.

Moms; including Debby Leavitt, Annie Leavitt, Jerri Gray, Deanna Harding, Donna Noto, Julie LaCroix, Denise Hoy, Cleta Gifford, Annette Olsen, and Deanna Campbell;

got out there and showed the daughters that you are never too old to have fun and play a good game.

Coach Brent Thompson coached the moms and Coach Jared Meyer coached the girls for this game. Matilda Thompson served as scorekeeper for the beginning of the game turning the job over to Julianna Gray midway through the game. Matilda was invited into the game on the mom’s team to which she rose to the occasion and played well. Young Nathaniel Thompson was also invited to join the moms and also played a good game.

The moms were given two practice sessions prior to the game to prepare for the challenge. Coach Thompson was tough on his team, all in good fun of course.

The moms kept things light throughout the game. With four 20 minute periods, light was necessary. Debby Leavitt kept the audience and teams laughing with her on-court antics. Leavitt would appear as a sixth man on the court out of nowhere and literally throw opposing players to the ground...gently of course. Leavitt explained that the girls all fell, she was innocent.

Leavitt was also seen tackling players (in a loving way) and fouls were too many to count. The entertainment Leavitt provided was priceless.

The moms got a good workout and gave the girls a workout of the their own. By half time the score was Daughters 44 Moms 36. The game was tight throughout.

Dads in the audience were invited to perform at halftime but declined. Maybe next year! This exciting game soon came to an end and with only 50 seconds left on the clock all moms cleared the bench and rushed the daughters on the court. It didn’t take long for the rest of the daughters to join the chaos on the court.

The game ended with a final score of Daughters 74 Moms 66. “Good game mommies” was the final cheer given by the daughters. It was all hugs after the cheers.
