The Easter Bunny made an advance appearance in Moapa Valley on Saturday, March 15 to visit with children at the Cappalappa Family Resource Center’s annual Egg Hunt.
The Easter Bunny was beautiful with her pink bow and pretty apron. Kids loved her! Under the ears was CFRC’s Penny Vallone. Vallone spent the entire morning being loved on and photographed. Not such a bad job!

This is the first year that Vallone has planned the Spring Fling. “It is all new to me but it will get bigger and better each year!” she said.
This event was sponsored by the CFRC and a lot of time and effort was put into the planning. Cakes were baked up by Lin’s Marketplace and purchased for the little one to consume after the big egg hunt.
Several dozen valley children and their parents made their way to the Overton Park for the event. There were plenty of big prizes to be won. A fun new twist this year were hidden carrots. That is

right, real carrots. Some were broken in half, some were whole and one special carrot had been gnawed on by the Easter Bunny.
Little Wyatt Barlow found that carrot after a big search and won a pink bunny that was bigger than him. Other prizes included stuffed toys, paddle ball, bouncy balls, hackie sacks, a baby doll, inflatable bunnies, bubble fun, a hopper ball and a big dump truck.
After the egg hunt, kids went through their eggs to find candy and slips of paper telling them what they had won. There were books (The Tale of Peter Rabbit), goodie bags with crayons and coloring books and cake to enjoy afterwards. McDonalds even provided punch and cups to keep the kids hydrated.

Volunteer Karie Thompson was busy taking pictures of kids with the Easter Bunny which will be provided to parents for no charge.
Many people were involved in making the Spring Fling a success. Special thanks to Toni and Buddy Halstead along with daughter Taylor, Stacey Vassar, Penny Vallone, Karie Thompson, and Patty Acosta.
