Moapa Valley Progress

MVHS Baseball hosted the Vo-Tech Roadrunners, a Southern 4A school, during the last week of preseason play, in a matchup which was created to test all elements of the Pirate lineup. Moapa Valley displayed the finest part of the team’s strengths early, the pitching rotation which Head Coach Jim Vallet believes can lead his team deep into the postseason tournaments.
The Pirates controlled the matchup from the beginning, using pitching from star ace Dallin Seely, clutch hitting, and solid defense to put the game out of touch early. In fact, Moapa scored five runs over the first three innings and used Seely’s pitching prowess to be able to control the game defensively and make Vo-Tech’s hitters work hard to get a hitter’s count.
If Seely held up the defensive side of the ball for Moapa Valley, then Matt Vallet certainly was the offensive force. Vallet used his well-known hitting ability to be able to get a double and an RBI single off of Vo-Tech’s pitching staff.
After Moapa Valley took a 5-0 lead into the sixth inning, Seely handed the ball over to veteran pitcher Bobby Vallet who continued to shut down the Roadrunner’s offense.
Vo-Tech would break through and score in the top of the seventh inning but by then it was too late. The Pirates claimed the victory with final score: 6-1.
Key highlights in the stats for Moapa were the fact that all six hits turned into runs and that the Pirates were uncharged in the category of errors.
