Attorney General Visits Moapa
Moapa Valley Progress

Ute V. Perkins Elementary School and Parent Teacher Association received a visit from the Nevada State Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto. Masto came to Moapa for a Kitchen Table Meeting as part of her annual rural road trip throughout Nevada.

The theme of the rural road trip is “Putting Nevada’s Families First”. The Attorney General was accompanied by several staff members to discuss the challenges faced by Nevada’s rural communities and how the Attorney General’s Office plans to help address those challenges.

“The purpose of these trips is to get out of the office and meet face-to-face with residents, to hear about their concerns and talk about what our office can do to help out,” said Masto. “We’d do a disservice to our rural residents if we focus our efforts just on Nevada’s urban areas. Our rural communities deserve our time and attention as well.“

General Masto and her staff presented exciting information concerning services and programs available for our children, families, schools, and communities. She told the Perkins PTA, “Nevada’s children are Nevada’s future and we believe our young residents deserve a commitment from the state of Nevada to protect their safety, health and welfare.” The Attorney General’s Office offers and participates in several state services to keep children safe. These services include:

1. Child advocacy for missing children; teaching tolerance and maximizing safety; protection from sex offenders; and, internet safety for parents and children.
2. Consumer Protection
3. Domestic Violence
4. Identity Theft
5. Drug Addiction Prevention
6. Public Integrity
7. Senior Protection
