Over the past two weeks approximately 170 students at Perkins Elementary in Moapa have collected donations for the American Heart Association. Total numbers have not been officially counted but the donations looked promising.

“We had great participation in collecting,” stated PE Teacher Erin Leavitt. Leavitt organized the event for the kids and made sure they were rewarded for their efforts.

Perkins students dressed in their red spirit shirts gathered on the playground for an afternoon of jumping fun on Friday, March 28. Plenty of stations were set up to give kids a variety of jumping. Double dutch, relay races and single jumping were a few the kids enjoyed.

Between stations drawings for great prizes donated by the PTA were held. After the jumping, kids were able to enjoy bottled water and granola bars generously donated by Lin’s Marketplace in Overton.

The class with the most participation received a rootbeer float party. It was announced that Mrs. Morgan’s fifth grade class won the party and that all kids that had collected donations would join them in the fun. Mrs. Leete and Mrs. Bush’s classes were close behind Mrs. Morgan’s class.

The kids made sure to clean up after the fun and called it a day.
