assisted the kids in making an authentic rain stick. After the crafts time kids enjoyed bottled water and sugar cookies donated by Lin’s Marketplace in Overton.
Kids also enjoyed a hike around the property, making pictographs with chalk in front of the museum, and they even had the opportunity to learn a Native American dance.
Lonita Bushhead and the Moapa Pauite Dancers were on hand to perform a dance for the group and teach them on of their own.
The Lost City Museum’s Kids Day takes place each spring and fall. This is an outreach program that looks to educate children on the area. Kids were given a couple of handouts to take home explaining the do’s and don’ts of the desert and an information sheet on rock art.
Wade complimented her volunteers explaining that she has 24 active volunteers that work with her in the Museum in many different facets.
Kids can look forward to the next Kids Day in the fall.
