After all is said and done, you might be asking just what is a County Fair and Rodeo all about? Well, it is as simple as ABC.

A – Animals and more animals. There are lambs, goats, pigs, cows, horses, chickens, turkeys, rabbits and others too many to name. They are the
A, B, C, D, E, F. G..... Now recite it with me. A Rodeo Clown teaches this horse the ABC’s, now let us tell you the ABC’s of the Clark County Fair & Rodeo.
4-H and FFA projects and the Open Class exhibits that have come to be pampered, shown, scrutinized and awarded.

B – Booths and Bears. The booths contain some of the most interesting crafts, vendors, demonstrations and FOOD. On display will be Wilde’s Bear Show.

C – Carnival and crafts and committees. The Fair/Rodeo is put together by those dedicated folks who put in hours and hours in committee meetings, on the phone and putting it all together. Without them and the countless volunteers, it would not be possible. The crafts include quilts, photographs and science projects, paintings, sewing, ceramics and woodworking. The Carnival is where you find the death defying Tornado ride and the classic Merry-Go-Round.

D- Demonstrations – from cooking to sewing to 4-H Demonstrations.

E - Entertainment – galore! From out-of town entertainers such as the Emerson Drive Country Band to the Kahuna Beach Party Band, to magicians, singers, hypnotists to Clark County’s own Vegas Valley Cloggers and the Valley Dance Academy.

F – Fun, friends and FOOD. Need I say more?

G – a Good Time.

H – Horticulture – Local gardeners bringing their flowers and vegetables to show.

I- Information. It is amazing what you can learn by talking with the vendors or the booth attendants. Give it a try. These folks are always happy to talk with someone concerning their exhibit.

J – Junk Food – And SO GOOD for you . . . BBQ, Kettle Korn, Indian Tacos, Pizza, Thai-Chinese and Fry Bread – just makes your mouth water to think about it!

K – Kids. It’s all about kids, no matter your age. To experience something new, to be close to a living, breathing farm animal, to ride the death defying rides. And, of course, there are the goat projects.

L – The Livestock Association is over 50 years old. This is an organization started by farmers and ranchers to teach others about agriculture and to give the youth an opportunity to learn, to show, to grow and to be rewarded for their hard work and diligence.

M – Music. Everywhere you wander there is music. From the joyful notes of the Carnival to the many entertainment features during each and every day and night.

N – Nevada State Information Tent - The Environment will be featured this year.

O – Old Machinery – The fascination of the old cars, tractors, washing machines, old engines including mine hoist engines. It is fun just listening to the “chitty chitty bang bang.”

P – Pageants – The Fair Royalty, who so graciously act as the hostesses of the fair and also take part in various events. There will be the Miss Rodeo Nevada Pageant and the Cinderella Pageant for all to see.

Q – Quick Pigs (as in the Swifty Swine Pig Races) to Quilts in all their colorful, puzzle-type patterns to Questions, such as those asked in the Scientific entries.

R - Rodeo - A Pro Rodeo Tour event is held during the fair, bringing some of the top riders of the nation into the Valley.

S – Stages. Once again, three stages, three entertainment events going on every minute. Take the load off, get off your feet and enjoy, then start again while you are entertained by the Strolling Entertainers.

T – Texas Twisters (once again, need I say more?)

U – It’s all about YOU, folks!

V – VOLUNTEERS – Without the hundreds of volunteers this fair and rodeo would not be possible. These dedicated people spend hours, months, a life time making sure all the I’s are dotted, the T’s crossed, and still find time to smile and to even partake and take part.

W – Weather. From rain, to sun, to wind . . . we have it all . . . and, yet, the crowds still come, no matter what.

X – an Xcellent job and kudos to one and all. Each year we look forward to seeing the results of a lot of hard work.

Y – Youths: The 4-H Clubs and the FFA Members. There is a lot of dedication, hard work, spills, tears of sadness and joy. Lessons of responsibility and pride in a job well done have to be the biggest rewards.

Z – There will be NO zebras! However, the Zipper is a possibility!

See you there!
