Once again the Clark County Fair and Rodeo has proven to be a crowd favorite! With over 600 of the top Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA) competitors the performances were second to none. From start to finish there was never a dull moment!

Steer wrestling was a big event at this year’s PRCA Rodeo event at the CC Fair and Rodeo.

wrestling, Ken Lewis; Team roping, Matt Sherwood and Randon Adams; Saddle Bronc riding, (tied) Heith DeMoss and Cody Wright; Tie-down roping, Tuf Cooper; Barrel racing, Tiffany Fox; and Bull riding, Stormy Wing.
The All-Around Champion was Clay Cowan. Cowan competes in steer wrestling and tie-down roping.
Here’s a closer look at the results by each individual event. In the Bareback riding, the first go-round, D.V. Fennell took first place with an 83 point ride on the Sankey Rodeo Company’s horse called “Legends.” In the second go-round Wes Stevenson won it with an 84 point ride on Growney Brothers Rodeo’s “Jennies Red Wine”. The average winner in the bareback riding was Kelly Timberman with 165 points on two head.
In the Steer wrestling event, the winner of the first go-round was Wade Sumpter, who turned in a time of 4.3 seconds. In the second go-round Dru Melvin walked away with a first place finish on his 4.0 second run and a check of $1,848. In the third go-round, Ken Lewis won it was a 4.0 second run and $1,848 check. In the fourth go-round Beau Frazen won it with a 4.3 second run and a $650 check. The average winner of the steer wrestling was Ken Lewis with 19.1 seconds on four head.
In the Team roping a local cowboy took the lead. Matt Sherwood, and roping partner of Logandale, Randon Adams, won the first go-round with a 4.9 second run. Winners of the second go round were Charly Crawford and Tyler Magnus with 3.8 seconds. First place in the third go-round went to Steve Purcella and Coby Jones. They turned in a time of 4.4 seconds. Fourth go-round winner was the team of Charly Crawford and Tyler Magnus with 5.1 second run. Matt Sherwood and Randon Adams came out on top winning the average in the team roping. They finished with 23.3 seconds on four head.
Next up was the classic event of rodeo, Saddle Bronc riding. Jake Hayworth won the first go-round with 84 points on Western Rodeos’ bronc known as “Lap Dance.” For the second go-round there was a tie for first and second place. Heith DeMoss on Salt River Rodeo’s “Blueberry” and Cody Wright on Sankey Rodeo’s “Surprise Party” each turned in an 85 point ride. Heith DeMoss and Cody Wright tied for the average win with 165 points on two head.
Then in the Tie-down roping, Tyson Durfey won the first go-round with a time of 9.6 seconds. In the second go-round, Timber Moore finished with a time of 8.4 seconds. Local PRCA cowboy Matt Shiozawa walked away with a first place win in the third go-round. Shiozawa turned in a time of 9.9 seconds. The fourth go-round winner was Tuf Cooper, with 8.7 seconds. Cooper also won the average with 41.9 seconds on four head.
Following the tie-down roping was the ladies event. Jana Jarreau won the first go-round of the barrel racing when she stopped the clock at 17.41 seconds. In the second go-round, Tiffany Fox turned in a time of 17.43 seconds which won that round. Brittany Pozzi-Pharr won the third go-round with a run of 17.40 seconds. Tiffany Fox walked away with the average win. Fox had a total of 52.76 seconds on three runs.
The final event of each night was the bull riding. In the first go-round Stormy Wing rode a bull known as “Old Blue Eyes,” to earn 86 points for first place. In the second go-round, Jake Wade came out on top with 88 points on Western Rodeos’ bull, “Rock Crusher.” This first place ride got Wade a $1,000 check.
The high scores and fast times turned in by these cowboys and cowgirls, the level of competition was second to none!
