An Internet Safety Seminar was held at Bowler Elementary School on Thursday evening, April 24. The Grant Bowler Parent Teacher Association (PTA) brought Cappalappa Family Resource (CFRC) Center out to provide a free seminar to educate the community on the ins and outs of safety on the Internet. This seminar was held as part of a PTA Community Outreach effort. Mike Qualheim, Farmers Insurance Agent was available at the seminar with information on child safety. Qualheim had information on the M.I.L.K. Digital ID program (Missing & Exploited Children) for attendees as well as Child Identification Kits.

CFRC’s Penny Vallone and Tami Kostner played a video from NetSmartzKids which told a couple of true stories about Internet victims. The video included many tips and warnings for parents and children.

Literature was made available on Identity Theft, sample rules for Internet use, Internet Safety Pledges, online safety tips, Internet safety quiz for adults, Blog Beware tips, tips for parents and guardians on keeping kids safer on the Internet, and the ABC’s of Internet Acronyms.

Vallone hopes to bring this program to the middle and high schools to help educate kids on the importance of Internet safety. To learn more visit www.NetSmartzKids.org.
