MVHS Seniors Hold Car Wash Fundraiser
By Kaytie Cook

If you had the chance to drive by Wally’s on Saturday morning, you were most likely waved down by dancing members of the senior class showing neon signs advertising a car wash. Is this some ironic and new graduation requirement? Of course not! But it was a great fundraiser planned and carried out by Senior Class President Jennifer Jack.

The car wash was done to raise money for the senior trip coming up on May 22, a jaunt to Six Flags in California.

All of the previous week, seniors sold tickets to neighbors, friends, family and any other person obligated to help out with fundraisers in order to prepare. A stand was even set up at Lins to help advertise the event with fliers being placed on cars and a table with tickets ready to be sold.

The actual event started at 9:00 a.m. with around 20 eager seniors ready to wash. Washers were divided into four main stations; vacuuming out the cars, washing the cars, drying the washed cars and finishing up with windows. Yes, they did windows!

The seniors looked like a small army as they rotated towels, windexed windows, soaped cars, and cleaned interiors.

“Everyone worked really hard and I was impressed with how much we did,” Jennifer Jack commented. “With our class you never expect who is going to come. We all wouldn’t normally hang out but we all came together and had a great time. That’s what is so great about our class.”

The wash turned out to be a huge success with roughly $1,000 estimated to be raised. The senior class wishes to thank every one who came out to support and donated, especially Wally’s for providing the establishment.
