Lin’s Marketplace in Overton presented its annual Mother of the Year award on Saturday, May 10. Nearly thirty mothers were nominated for the honor, and Overton resident, Lorri Rust was selected by the panel who read the entries.

Rust was nominated by her eight children, who think that she is the best mother in the world. “I love my mom because she is cool, and she’s always there for me, especially when I need help,” said daughter Hannah, better known as Beebz.

Natalie Rust, who actually filled out the nomination for their mother said that her mother is great, not only because she works hard doing all that mothers do, but because she is a great teacher. “My mom deserves to be mother of the year for the things she has taught my family, not only through counsel, but also by example,” said Natalie. “She teaches me something everyday, often without even knowing it.”

Five of Rust’s eight children were available to congratulate their Mother. Her only son present, Travis, brought some humor to the group with his praise for his mom. “The true way to gauge a mother is by the quality of her kids,” he said. “We’re pretty amazing.”

“There were a lot of great moms nominated for this award,” said Lin’s Assistant Store Leader Brad Whiting. “We had to have a whole panel of judges go through the nominations. They selected Lorri Rust, and we all agree that she is a great mom, with an amazing family.” The store presented Rust with a basket of goodies picked just for moms and a certificate that declared her the 2008 Mother of the Year.
