Pirates Celebrate Homecoming

Moapa Valley High School celebrated Homecoming Week last week with a variety of traditional events. This year's theme was "Pirate Pride: Our Compass, Our Future, Our Legacy".

Phone Scam Targets MVCU Members

Moapa Valley residents became the targets of attempted telephone fraud last week. Many residents received calls from an automated phone system on Monday morning, October 6.

County Commission Denies License To Proposed Moapa Tavern

The Clark County Board of Commissioners voted to deny a Tavern and Package Liquor license to the Muddy River Bar and Grill facility proposed in Moapa. The Commissioners heard a report at a meeting held on Tuesday, October 7. The report was to help determine the suitability of the owner of the facility, Kent Slight, to hold the privileged liquor license. The Moapa Valley Water District Board of Directors took a tour of the district's arsenic treatment facilities that are currently under construction on Thursday, October 2. In the final phases of construction are two treatment facilities in the Warm Springs area.

The first facility is being built on the site of the Arrow Canyon wells and will treat water coming from those two wells. The other facility is being constructed at the Baldwin Springs site and will treat water from Baldwin and Jones Springs. A pipeline is also being constructed to bring water from the Jones Springs...
