Coming Soon: Moapa Valley Community Yard Sale

The Moapa Valley Rotary Club fifth annual Valley Wide Yard Sale will be held on Saturday, March 13. The Rotary Club is advertising for the event, not only in local papers, but also papers in Mesquite, St. George, and Las Vegas to help bring out of town customers into the valley.

The first year of this event, there were seven sites. Each year the event grows. Last years sale had 26 sites and many more participants were interested but missed the cutoff to be included on the map, said event coordinator Chris Green.

"Combining efforts across our community and drawing customers from So. Utah and Nevada creates an 'everyone wins' situation," Green said. "[This will] help raise funds for the many businesses and non-profits in Moapa Valley who have been handing around the same dollar in an attempt to fund all the good programs and projects in our valley."

Green has many ideas on what locals can do to participate in the sale. "Area merchants could plan advertised specials or sidewalk sales on that day," she said. "Residents could assist their favorite non-profit organization with a sale or hold their own. Local businesses and churches could hold swap meets in their parking lots. Other groups, including Scouts, schools, and snowbirds will have the opportunity to draw visitors and residents to their events."

The Rotary Club will have maps of each location available on the web and a map will be printed in the Moapa Valley Progress the week before the event.

The cost to be involved in the event, which includes placement on the official map, is just $15. The last day to be included is Friday, March 5.
